I have tried it, but NOT in the Intercontinental Hotel I guess you mean this hotel.
Somebody told me it is a gimmick to make it more worth to its price or draw people's attention for it .
Yes, Aroma is good, after taste is good.
But not worth to HKD$150 per cup.
I tried some Bolivia 90points with city to full city drip/filter.
After taste, very good and fresh feeling.
Included shipping from U.S. about $100per pound green beans.
After roast, about $130@pound.
There is not much fresh roast coffee in town to compare.
So, if $150- can satisfy your interest, please try it and post the view later.
By the way, before Zambra took over the coffee section in Great supermarket in ??.
The roaster there sells Luwak beans. I have no idea it is still in Hong Kong.
Or buy this online to make sure it is from the ???, Not just the blend I say above .

One of this coffee farmers gave some sample to my friend.
I tried it with French press. FREE
The farmer said it is same as other coffee.
It is not CLEAN to have something through the animal all the time.
And I also found that it comes with Arabica kopi luwak and Robusta kopi luwak. 2 kinds.
I think you may order some of them to try at home ?
$150- buy a story in 5* hotel...yes, very very expensive to me.
Sorry IMHO, something we should think:
The hotel bought direct from the farm and roasted this bean themselves?
How can they make sure the freshness and if I haven't make mistake;
they use mineral water which not a perfect kind of water to make coffee.
I agree this may be a rearer origin. But 150 per cup.
Anyway, as a coffee lovers / geeks like us,
We should try 1 try.
But try it in the Hotel or order bean to try.
As home barista... what do you think ?
Taste ok good, but there are many 90+ points SCAA beans every year.
I tried some of them, they are even better. Of course, they are much cheaper than this rarer blend.
But some of them comes with 32kilo per bag, or 8 pounds worth to ship.
We should ask Landy to order the original Luwak and clean it herself and roast there and try. count me in if she has no problem with this.
Thanks |
