Hello All,

Please vote :

1- You drink or use it for latte of every day First Shot from your machine.

2- You always throw the First shot away everyday.

Please not explain $ reason.

2 advantage of throwing the 1st shot:
1-
There are coffee oil from yesterday- especially in this few days - cold weather.
Whatever how did you clean the basket & the group yesterday, there must be some left inside the HOLES of the basket.
Yes, we use the new coffee pass through the basket as a cleaning procedure.
Try to smell the basket when it has been gotten cool after serious cleaning.
And the brewing group too.
There are not nice smell from the metal - this, I apply to all machines !!
The group and the basket; some PF with *bottom with more worst effect.
em, bottomless may be better since this reason ? Direct !
On the other hand, I do not clean all the testing shot oil.
I throw the puck and clean it with a dry cloth.

2-
Test the grind setting. Does it suit for today's brewing and today's BEAN. You know the changes and the issues.
Some of the cafes we like most in HK, they may adjust the grinder a little bit once / twice a day.

Sorry, please forgive my stubbornness.
I follow the issue from my mind to do my Perfect shot theory.
I know I need to take it easy.

Hi bib,
Honestly speaking, i think what affect the taste of the coffee most is roasting.
I often drink my first shot straight, it contains, at least, good flavours if my roast is good.
The taste may not be as intense as those of adjusted grind setting, but it is already a good shot. (again, if my roast is good)

Thank you for all of your kindness opinions.
There is no right or wrong answer to home users.

One funny story I heard :
There is a cafe/restaurant manager always make the first shot to drink when he come back to the place he work during every working day. One thing I can sure is the shot must be HO HO YUM Twisted Evil !!
There is something different to us **home users.
A good commercial machine should be cleaned with cleaner everyday.
There are cleaner's favor and residue still stays on the group and its metal part.
So, I just interest to know and ask members here, what they are doing.

I remove the group gasket of my espresso machine and clean.
WOW WOW WOW, I never think about there are many coffee residue from coffee grounds which we produce everyday.
Crazy person do back flush 6 times when finish making 5-6 shots and turn off the machine. Back Flush, I am not sure and not decide how long or after how many shot I made to do it...
I always deeply clean the group WITHOUT any cleaner but the BRUSH and an exclusive cloths for group and basket ONLY to clean it through and flush it with about 500cc water + add some flush with the PF put on the group - for machine without 3way for back flush.

Anyway, what I believe is always keep the group and 3way if the machine with 3 way CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN is the best for all of us health - Yes, I am too neweyecrazy and always keep the machine CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.

Lucky, find a way to take it off and saving the gasket.

For lever is better, just POP it off and clean it and then put it back.
