to those who purchased this limited beans.

Did any of you experience large funnel when you brew espresso ? i found this bean to be very gassy.

would you recommend any method to reduce such thing ? thanks

I had once many months ago when using Krups XP4020, now cannot remember clearly. Maybe you can try.

- release if any steam trapped in the boiler by opening the steam wand before starting to make the espresso.

果啲ethiopia的日曬豆, 通常放3-4日先飲, 豆內的CO2氣就散得七七八八。 另外, 香味由第一日烘好, 到之後日日都唔同味, 有人話到第3-4日係香味的頂峰, 之後就會開始下降, 老實講, 由散氣所形成的大funnel其實無得避免, 一係就唔好第一/二日飲(咁但係你就永遠飲唔番果種香味), 只要最後brew ratio係番去50%左右, 個funnel唔係好大concern啦

thanks everyone for the advices.

as for the funneling issue, i'm sure there are different sayings out there. some say it's not a problem, some say it's a major issue.

whatever you like, there is one thing that i am sure of. that is the crema produced through the big funnel extraction is less dense than the mouse tail extraction hence deceiving the perception of how much liquid actually brewed which impacts on the brew ratio in the end product.

my illy espresso glass is about 50ml top up , when it is brewed under the big funnel i stopped extraction when it is almost full, let it sit for about 15seconds and i see there is barely 30-35ml of liquid.

So maybe you can brew by weight , disregarding the volume of your espresso,

or less easily by stopping before blonding.
