				Hi!

Sorry for my english and hope I get what you said right via the translation website.

I read on coffeegeek and they have a so-called "Sparkling americano", ie substituting water in americano with cold soda or any sparkling water and pour espresso on top. It sounds easy to me if you already drink the espresso and own the machine for a change to something cold. |

				Hello boblam,

"Sparkling americano" is a totally new idea to me!

Umm............ let me buy some cans of soda water and a bottle of syrup for it first.

May need to add some ice to make it cooler, my home is really hot in these few days |

				Wow! Like a beer

Read that it was two layers. You hit by the warm espresso first, following by the cool and soothing taste of the soda layer. Is that the case? Also, do you like it? |

Ok, lets try espresso(Sumatra Iskandar Premium) on rock first

then add some soda water on top

err.............. cold crema with weird mouth feel

Ok, lets try again with boblam's version,

to avoid overflow, I used less than 1 oz. of soda water

and then I stop the extraction at this point

acidic taste enhanced, just like red wine,

but with thick warm crema and sparkling ice coffee

I would say............... that is "NOT" my favour

Maybe replace the soda water with perrier, add some syrup and use deep roast beans would be better.

P.S.

Alvin, Landy & Shing, you have more experience on cupping. Lets try it and give it a fair comment.

Thks for sharing your experience and looks great.

The thread in coffeegeek suggest some variation of water as follow.

1. Orange flavor sparkling water (not sweet, IMHO) - taste good.

2. San Pelligrino - accentuate the bitterness of the espresso.

3. Sweet mineral water (no idea whether it's really sugary) - seem to work well.

4. Some said something like L&P (aus/nz product): seemed to be closer to Sprite/7up - taste good according to my reading

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%26P

Well, there's some variation of the soda you could try. |
